Music
We aim to sing an acapella repertoire embracing the styles of American song, swing,
jazz, secular and spiritual music arranged in men’s voice and barbershop style to a high musical standard. This will include voice work on breathing, vowels, articulation blending, posture,
presentation, musicality and listening skills – all vital to reach that ultimate performance level. We will still aim to have fun whilst learning and to strive to be honest and democratic. The key
factors are that you have a singing voice, and a willingness to always aim for the best possible standards you can achieve. Our intention is to recruit and develop a chorus over the next year of 30
singers, with an appropriate balance of numbers in each of the voice parts.
Joining
Not surprisingly, all prospective members of Vocal Fusion have to pass a Singing
Audition to join the club, and details of the Audition process, and the support we provide, are attached. Our aspiration is to help you pass the Audition if we possibly
can. No Membership Subscriptions are due until Preliminary Membership has been attained.
Repertoire
New songs will be allocated 4 weeks learning time, and we will provide professional
learning tracks and the sheet music to help you learn. We can provide you with good techniques and approaches to help you learn new songs quickly and effectively. All members will need
to practice material independently and regularly between rehearsals, and inevitably the more you practice at home, the better you will become. Each week a page or two will be rehearsed in
detail, as we progressively build up the song.
Gigs
We aim to enjoy this hobby by singing at various gigs. Again, some of you may be
unavailable but we would encourage you to do as many of these as possible. We will aim to have a balanced chorus at a gig, though if not, a quartet.
